Chinese Opera is a performance art that has originated in China for many thousand of years ago according to its first evidence appeared in the Annals of Song Dynasty (around 1179 - 1276). It was noted that there was one renowned wandering theatrical troupe that had been performing around the southern province of China with its remarkable and unique style of singing and telling story in rhymes. Then, this style had been widely spread into many parts of China until the Dynasty had established the Royal Chines opera troupe in order to play in many royal ceremonies and to welcome official foreign visitors. The play was restricted to perform only in the Royal Courts or high rank official residents.
Beijing Opera, which was very famous during Qing Dynasty, is considered as the most unique and prestigious off all numerous branches of Chinese Opera. Later, Beijing Opera ha bee appointed as a national opera of Chinese people.
In Thailand, the oldest evidence of Chines Opera found in the reign of King Narai, while the play had flourished in the reign of King Rama V. Many Chinese Opera troupes had been commonly formed during King Rama V era along with the Chinese Opera Schools, especially around Yaowara district and  Charoenkrung Street. The play had been chosen to perform in almost every big major event of Thai and Chinese festivals. This bonding reflects a strong relationship between Thais and Chinese.
