Thailand Stamps 2014: Eight Decades of Thai Social Evolution (Thammasat University)

Thammasat University's duties are to disseminate academic knowledge, provide education and produce graduates to serve Thai society in every field. These graduates have been working here and there in both the government and private sectors through the past 80 years, since the university was established on June 27, 1934. Also, it has long been proved as an education institution that has played key roles in the revolution of politics, economic, and Thai society from past to present.
This set of stamps, which celebrates the 80th anniversary of the university, features the photos of Dome Building at Tha Prachan Campus, the distinguished symbol of the university. It is the first building when the institution was first established as the "University of Moral and Political Sciences". The Dome was designed by Dr. Pridi Banomyong. It was later explained that the design came from a sharpened octagonal pencil which represents the high wisdom of education management.
