Wat
Buraparam is an ancient Buddhist temple assumed Rattanakosin (Bangkok) period
and lies in Surin town. It was built by
Surin’s first town leader, Phraya Surin Phakdi Si Narong Changwang. It is home
to the province’s iconic Buddha image, named Luang Por Phra Chi, which was
built during the same period. The temple also houses the museum of Luang Phoo
Dun, a famous senior monk who was once the provincial chief of the Buddhist
Dhammayuth sect. The museum features a statue of Luang Phoo Dun and his ashes.
