Thailand Stamps 2016: Thailand - Indonesia Joint Issue

The Shared Literary Heritage of the two Nationals

To celebrate the 66th Anniversary of the Indonesia-Thailand Diplomatic Relations, Thailand Post issues a commemorative stamp to present common cultural roots between Thailand and Indonesia. The Ramayana Epic, an ancient literature inherited from India is chosen. In Thailand, the epic has been widely known in the name "Ramakien", the main story of Khon performance, while in Indonesia has adopted it for the shadow puppet show "Wayang purwa", which is the oldest national identity of Indonesia. This commemorative issue is gorgeous with the magnificent designs. Mural painting from the Emerald Buddha Temple is illustrated on Thai stamp while canvas painting which is called KAMESAN is illustrated on Indonesian stamp. Both Thai and Indonesian stamps are issued on the same day of 5th May 2016.
