Thailand Stamps 2014: 60th Anniversary of the Zoological Park Organization

60 Year of Wildlife Conserving Mission

The Zoological Park Organization was established in 1954 as a state agency with a major mission to supervise the zoos in Thailand. Currently it administers 5 zoos, namely Dusit Zoo, Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Chiang Mai Zoo, Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo and Songkla Zoo. The 60th Anniversary of the Zoological Park Organization Commemorative Stamp portrayed a graphic of Schomburgk's deer, created from photography of the real living one around 215 years ago. Just about its Central Plain, Thailand is the only native habitat of the Schomburgk's deers before they were extinct. Only their gorgeous antlers remain and remind human to realize the importance of wildlife preservation.
